Legal actions will be taken against the returnees who defy the quarantine rules, in accord with the Natural Disaster Management Law and the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law, said Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe, on 25 March.

In order to seek the ways to solve difficulties and crisis caused by the COVID-19, the tripartite meeting between employee, employer and the government was held at the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population in Nay Pyi Taw on 25 March.

“The government will carry out its works step by step," Union Minister U Thein Swe added.

The government’s knowledge sharing on the prevention and control of the virus with the assistance of the Ministry of Health and Sports, would not amount to suppressing the personal rights of each person. The government will educate and organize the public with a sense of duty for preventing individuals, families and environments from virus infection, the minister added.

The minister said that Myanmar State Counsellor has directed officials to distribute the Ministry of Health and Sports’s directives on the preventive measures against COVID-19 nationwide.

Now, there have been three reported confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar, according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
