An on-ground survey has started for all-round development project of Yangon Railway Station, according to Myanma Railways.

A coordination meeting on conducting the survey took place on October, attended by Myanma Railways general manager Tun Aung Thin and officials from Yangon City Development Committee (Land Survey Division).

The eight-year project is expected to cost US$2.5 billion, creating about 100,000 jobs, according to a statement released by Central Transport Development Consortium (CTDC) chosen for participating in the project.

CTDC is formed with three companies. Local Mindhamma Company owns 40 percents of shares and Singapore-based Oxley Holdings Company and China-based Sino Great Wall Company 20 percent respectively. Mindhamma Co is one of 23 company branches under Mottama Holdings Company. The Yanogn Railway Station all-round development project is a joint-venture business with the largest investment under the current government.

CTDC was selected as the most satisfied tender winner of the project that covers 63.5 acres in central Yangon.

Upon completion of the project, Yangon Railway Station will become the hub of rail transport and central public transport. The design will be mixed with both original and modern architectural works.

Yangon Railway State was built in 1954. The project with a floor area of 1.09 million square meters will include six zones with twin tower office, office buildings, housings, hotels, a park and museum.
