The Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) issued a statement on December 23, mentioning that the statement on ceasefire and eternal peace released by Tatmadaw (defence services) was totally supported as it is a crucial step toward peace process.

The MNTJP, PSLF and ULA, three ethnic armed organizations of the Northern Alliance, regarding the Myanmar’s peace process, issued an announcement in Kunming, China on December 12, 2018 that they would halt military operations and continue engaging in national reconciliation and peace process through political means.

With regard to the statement of the MNTJP, PSLF and ULA, the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services issued a statement on December 21, stating that Tatmadaw (defence services) will halt all of its military activities in five theaters with the aim of conducting separate negotiations with all NCA non-signatories.

The statement of the MNTJP, PSLF and ULA indicated that the FPNCC actively supported the statement of the Tatmadaw and warmly welcomed it as well because the move was a critical step toward the peace process.

The FPNCC will actively organize those three ethnic armed organizations and its other members in order to rapidly reach the Bilateral Ceasefire Agreement together with the government, the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and the commanders concerned, according to the statement of the FPNCC.

The FPNCC is comprised of the UWSA, the NDAA, the KIO, the SSPP, the MNTJP, the MNDAA, the PSLF/TNLA and the ULA/AA.
