Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), Ta'aung National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army (AA), the Northern Alliance,  have issued a joint statement saying that they will cease their attacks if Myanmar's military fulfil promise of halting offensives.

Their joint statement released on December 24 came in response to the military's statement on ceasefire and eternal peace issued on December 21.

The Northern Alliance, formed between the aforementioned three ethnic armed groups, said they would accord a positive welcome to the army, showing their hope for seeking a solution through prompt political dialogue to reduce clashes in conflict areas. They are also ready for peace talks as mentioned the army statement, says the joint statement.

They however called for nationwide ceasefire and expressed concern about the country's peace process as the military excludes Rakhine State in its ongoing ceasefire.

On December 24 also, the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) formed with MNDAA, TNLA and AA under the leadership of United Wa State Army issued a statement in which they said despite its unilateral ceasefire, the Myanmar military still continues to speed up its offensive against AA in Rakhine State.

In the statement, FPNCC called for a halt to military operations on AA for paving the way for talks on bilateral ceasefire agreement.
