National League for Democracy (NLD) has come to know that a greater effort is necessary to overcome the crisis of constitutional amendment, Lower House MP Dr Hla Moe from the party told the media on March 10.

He said his party attempted to amend the provisions of the constitution that needed to be changed with the aim of serving public interest.

“We decided through voting. We tried to amend the provisions of the constitution as necessary with the aim of serving the interests of our citizens. Decision through voting is as per the constitution. We all tried to overcome the crisis. I have nothing special to say about today’s decision through voting in parliament,” Dr Hla Moe said.

“We must continue to try to over this crisis of charter change. We came to know that all citizens must do more,” he added.

In the first-day decision of constitutional amendment through voting in Union Parliament in Nay Pyi Taw on March 10, some sections of the constitution related to military affairs could not be amended whereas only two sub-sections related to the disabled and elderly people could be amended.

The proposed changes in some sections of the constitution related to military affairs include reduction in the participation of military personnel in parliament and the removal of the provision that the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services is the chief of all armed organizations.
