New Mon State Party reaffirms its commitment to ethnic unity and federalism

The New Mon State Party (NMSP) issued a statement in Mon language on January 14, after its 11th Central Conference, declaring its intention to cooperate with other ethnic armed groups.

The statement also expressed the party’s concern over the ongoing civil war in some parts of the Mon State, and its efforts to improve law and order and security in the Mon State.

The NMSP also reiterated its aspiration to establish a genuine federal union in Myanmar, and to strengthen its party, armed forces, and territories.

The statement also announced the election of the party’s central and military committees, with Naing Han Tha retaining his position as the chairman of the NMSP.

The statement did not disclose the details of the party’s internal and external policies and strategies.
