It is expected that the negotiations and discussions between the negotiation teams formed by the PPST and the government will open the door for the PPST and the government to keep on holding dialogues and the 21st Century Panglong Conference, General Ywet Sit, Chairman of the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS), who is also an acting leader of the PPST.

The meeting of the PPST was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from August 21 to 25 and that General Ywet Sit said he hoped the negotiations and discussions between the negotiation teams formed by the PPST and the government will open the door for the PPST and the government to keep on holding dialogues and the 21st Century Panglong Conference, according to the report of the NCA-S EAO Office.

The Karen National Union (KNU) has temporarily stopped attending official peace meetings. The RCSS also temporarily suspended to attend the meeting of the JMC.

The five-day-long meeting was able to produce a positive result acceptable to all stakeholders. Thank the leaders for taking part in the thorough discussions. The participation of the NMSP and the LDU ensures a further strengthening to the PPST, said General Ywet Sit.
