In Myeik on June 6th, the son of a gold shop owner, who had stolen gold from his father and fled, was apprehended and fatally shot.

The incident occurred as U Aung Thin Maung, proprietor of the prominent Hyper-Great Gold Shop in Myeik City, Tanintharyi Region, was preparing to open his store around 8:00 a.m. His son arrived and, upon being denied something by his father, threw chili powder at him and absconded with a box of gold.

Witnesses described the son's aggressive behavior, wielding an ax to deter anyone from intervening as he made his escape on a motorcycle.

Upon learning of his son's actions, the gold shop owner promptly reported the incident to authorities, leading to his son's arrest.

"He is the second son of the gold shop owner, previously incarcerated for drug offenses. Despite being married, his behavior had been uncontrollable, necessitating previous intervention by his parents. Now, having looted the gold box and evaded authorities, he met his demise," a relative revealed.

The son was found deceased near a gas station close to Mazaw village tract, approximately 20 miles from Myeik.
