Myanmar is humiliated amongst the global community due to rampant false news in her society, said Dr Myo Nyunt, spokesperson of the ruling National League for Democracy.
The NLD spokesperson made the remark during the first anniversary of the death of Ye Lwin, one of the country's famous musicians.
Ye Lwin led Panyelann (Path of Flowers), a band of charity buskers entertaining customers with their music at tea shops across the country to raise charity funds.
"We are losing face in the international community as our society is rampant with false news. Just type Myanmar on the internet. A lot of news will pop up saying Myanmar people are cruel, rough and they have no respect for human rights. We have to work hard to prevent these accusations," said Dr Myo Nyunt.
He then called on all (citizens) to follow the examples of Myanmar heroes instead of looking for heroes so that Myanmar society can revive in the global community.
