Most of China-made weapons were found in the seizures of arms and ammunitions in Homein region, said Vice-Chairman Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi of Tatmadaw True News Information Team.

The remarks came from the press conference held at Defence Services Museum in Nay Pyi Taw on November 24.

A reporter asked the press conference if it could confirm most of China-made weapons were found in the Homein seizures of arms and ammunitions and how much they were worth.

“We showed the seizures of arms and ammunitions to the reporters yesterday. The seizures are under scrutiny whether they are new or not. Most of them are from China. For example, FN-6 is man-portable surface-to-air missile and it is the third generation. It was manufactured after 2000. It was intended for export. I think it is the same as that in China and its pronunciation is HongYinh. Its name is used in the country. It is exported to other countries and manufacturing years are different. A FN-6 was worth US$ 75,000 in 2009. The previous price was different from the current. How did the armed group get such much money? Where did it come from? How did it buy it? The emergence of this armed group is not so long. Arms and ammunitions are expensive ones in the world. The income source to easily buy them is just the narcotic drug. Maybe there are other sources. The current value of the seizures is huge, said Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi.

Homein is the place of the position of the commander-in-chief of the TNLA. TNLA forces come out of this place and so we are monitoring there. This area was that U Aik Tun exchanged arms for peace in the past and it since then has been a peaceful region. Much regional development was carried out there. Tatmadaw is well aware of this area. To get news, we have to use multiple ways. Such seizures of arms and ammunitions are attributable to the use of multiple ways by Tatmadaw. We don’t keep still and always scout. For that reason we managed to seize arms and ammunitions, said Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi.

At such a situation, we can clearly know media’s attitude toward Tatmadaw by reviewing of their writings and expressions, said Maj-Gen Tun Tun Nyi.
