More Myanmar migrant workers are returning from China as they have difficulty with their living conditions due to factory and shop closures caused by the Covid-19 resurgence in Ruili and Kyel Gaung.

On August 27 alone, 465 Myanmar citizens entered the country through Nandaw border checkpoint in Muse.

The 465 Myanmar migrant workers including 201 women returned to their motherland as they faced difficulty with their living conditions while working in those two Chinese cities that have closed factories and shops after the Covid resurgence.

During the lockdown period in Ruili and Kyel Gaung, officials from the two countries coordinated return of Myanmar workers. Myanmar started accepting its workers back on July 26, and 7,524 had reentered the country from July 26 to August 26. There are still thousands of Myanmar migrant workers in China.

The re-acceptance committee in Muse are accepting and welcoming back Myanmar returnees.

A committee official said the Muse Township Covid-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee arranged preventive measures while the transport committee arranged transport of those returnees.
