Mine planted by the AA injures eight locals in Minbya: army

A mine blast occurred near Ywekyan Village, Minbya Township injured eight locals including three children on January 19 and it was set up by the Arakan Army (AA), announced Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services on January 20.

The eight villagers went to the forest looking for firewood and they stepped on a land mine plotted by the AA about 600 meters away from the east of the village, it said.

They had injuries in their abdomen and legs and they were sent to Mrauk-U hospital, it said.

A total of 29 civilians are killed by the AA in Rakhine State till now and 11 civilians were killed and 34 others were injured in the mine blasts plotted by the AA, announced the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services.

The security forces also caught a corporal from the AA in Mrauk-U on January 19, it said.
