Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has presented a certificate of honour to the captain and crew from an airplane from Myanmar National Airlines for their safe landing after a technical failure, the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services reported.

The press release issued on May 14 said that the passenger airplane XY-AGQ Embraer 190 with flight No (UB-103) from Myanmar National Airlines carrying seven crew members and 82 passengers made an emergency landing as the nose landing gear did not work while flying from Yangon to Mandalay on May 12 morning.

Captain Myat Moe Aung could make a calm decision to land the plane safely by using the two main landing gears as the nose landing gear could not fall.

The plane landed safely without any casualties and with little damage thanks to the correct decision and leadership of the captain and crew, the statement said.

On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Yangon Region Command Commander Major General Thet Pon presented a certificate of honour to Captain Myat Moe Aung and his crew for their efforts to protect the passengers and prevent loss and damage to the plane at the head office of MNA in Kyauktada Township, Yangon, on May 14 afternoon.
