A fraud against shops owned by Myanmar selling Myanmar products by pretending to be Thai police officer took place in the eastern city of Pattaya, Thailand on August 26.

It is reported that a Thai police officer entered a shop selling Myanmar products and said he found illegal products in the shop. He claimed that they did not have the approval mark of the Thai Ministry of Health and said that the owner will pay a fine of 200,000 to 300,000 baht.

It is said that the shop sellers were scared and asked to pay 20,000 baht and 1,000 to 2,000 baht monthly. On the first day, he fraudulently asked for up to 7 shops.

Chairman of the Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs (JACBA) U Moe Gyo said they should not despair of the fraud case and they should file a complaint with the Thai Lawyers Council and the Human Rights Council and complain about deception and financial demands.

"It happened in Pattaya, a seaside resort city in the eastern part of Thailand. There are many people like this who pretend to be Thai policemen and ask for extortion money. They have been bullying Myanmar people like ATM cards for a long time. This incident happened in a seaside city. Even if this person is not a Thai policeman, it is reported that he is related to the police. "If you don't give up on this and file a complaint with the Thai Lawyers' Council and the Human Rights Council and file a complaint about these deceitful and demanding financial claims, then more actions will be taken than before," said U Moe Gyo.
