A man was shot dead near Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Thaton Township, Mon State around 7 pm on January 18, according to locals.

The deceased was Ko Myo Min who sold highway tickets and two men on motorcycles shot him, according to a local.

“I heard gunshot about five times. Later, I learnt that Ko Myo Min was shot,” said the local.

He was shot three times to his chest, and two times to back of his head. He died on the spot, according to locals. A social organization transported the body to Theinseik stationed hospital.

On November 30, 2023, U Than Naing from Thuwannawadi, Thaton was also shot dead by two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle, according to locals.
