A man was shot dead at the traffic lights on the corner of Railway Station Street and Insein Road in Hline Township, Yangon Region, on the morning of August 29.  

The man, said to be living in Hline Ward-1, left home together with his wife in a private car.

According to nearby residents, while waiting at the traffic lights for the turn of green light, they were shot with an unknown gunman from another car beside theirs.

“The incident happened at the traffic lights between Railway State Street and Insein Road. As they waited at the traffic lights, they were shot from a car beside them. We heard gunfire. The man died on the spot and his wife was wounded,” said a nearby resident.  

After the shooting, security forces arrived at the scene and checked the area.
