Man arrested for videotaping barriers at ministerial housing in Mawlamyine and posting it on Tiktok

A man was reportedly arrested on November 4, for making a video of the barricades around the ministerial housing in Ngantay Ward, Mawlamyine, Mon State, and posting it on Tiktok. 

The man arrested is 29-year-old Ko Ko Htut, who lives in Myaingthaya Ward, Mawlamyine. He was arrested after police found out that he had filmed the barricades placed on the road to the ministers’ housing, spread false news, and wrote politically motivated texts, according to a source close to security forces.

"Ko Ko Hut was arrested in a tea shop near the traditional medicine hospital on the morning of November 4," the source said.

 In connection with the case, Ko Ko Hut was charged under Section 505 (a) of Penal Code of Myanmar at the relevant local police station.

On November 2 also in Malamyine, a midwife who joined the CDM (civil disobedience movement) was arrested for allegedly posting on Facebook the murder of the head of Ye Township Fisheries Department.
