Low pressure area may form over the Bay of Bengal: DMH

A low pressure area may form over the Bay of Bengal in the last week of August, and it may intensify into a small storm, according to the weather forecast by the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology. 

Dr. Kyaw Moe Oo,  Director-General of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology said: “A low pressure area is likely to form  in the north of the Bay of Bengal. We need to monitor whether it may develop into an inland low pressure area or not.”

The south-western monsoon may be moderate and further intensify. More rainfalls are expected in the Upper Sagaing, Kachin, Kayin and Mon while the normal rainfalls are estimated in the lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi, Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayah.

The rainy days are expected to take eight or around 10 days in the upper Sagaing, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi, Kachin, Shan (south), Rakhine, Kayin and Mon, and five to seven days in Nay Pyi Taw, lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Shan (North and East), Chin and Kayah, according to the DMH’s estimate.
