According to a June 9 announcement, the Karen National Union (KNU) announces that the KNU will be following the principles of the National Ceasefire Act (NCA) and that the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) should follow the rules.

It says that the KNU and the KNLA had been paying with their lives for the just defense of the Kayin ethnicity's equality and freedom.

It also says that the KNU had been involved as a major player in achieving democracy and human rights.

The KNU's statement says that both the KNLA should follow the political leadership of the KNU and that both will follow suit KNU's Chairman Saw Mutu Say Poe's views on this matter as express on May 10, 2021.
