Hotel rooms in Chaungthar and Ngwe Saung beaches have been fully booked before April as Myanmar New Year Festival (Thingyan ) near.

“Hotels rooms and motels in Chaungthar and Ngwe Saung beaches have been reserved for Thingyan holiday. From April 1 to April 8, a few rooms are available but most of the hotels’ rooms have been reserved in advance. Reservations were made for the Thingyan period. Majority of visitors are foreigners from international embassies and business people. Ngwe Saung has white sandy beach and its coastline is vast, and so more tourists and travellers interested in Ngwe Saung beach. Hotel prices are a little higher in public holidays and in holiday season. The prices in Thingyan are much higher than these prices,” said an official from one of the Ngwe Saung beach hotels.

Contact has been made to an official from hotels and tourism department concerning hotel rooms in Chaung Thar beach.

“Most of the hotel rooms have fully booked for Thingyan period. There were a lot of visitors in March 25, 26, 27. Some visitors had to stay at monastery in the village or stay at some houses in the village. I think Thingyan has most visitors. Foreign travellers such as Chinese, Koreans and Indians usually come to visit here,” said an official from hotels and tourism department.

Because of the unavailability of rooms in Chaungthar and Ngwe Saung beaches in Thingyan period, some local visitors prefer day trip to these beaches.
