A homemade mine exploded as garbage was burned in Yetama Street, Ward No.9, Hpa-an Township, Kayin State, at about 5 pm on May 1, according to local sources.

The mine went off when Ko Aung La living in Yetama Street burned the garbage in the yard of his house.

“Yesterday (May 1), an explosion was heard around 9 pm. It came from the back yard of Ko Aung La’s house. He is a chick pea dealer,” said a neighbourhood resident.
