Myanmar earns over USD 971 million from agricultural exports in early 2024-2025 fiscal year

In the months of April and May of the 2024-2025 fiscal year, more than USD 971 million was earned from the export of agricultural produce, with over USD 795 million worth of goods exported via sea trade, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

From April 1 to May 31 of the 2023-2024 fiscal year, USD 3831.083 million was earned from the export of agricultural produce. During the same period, USD 2874.544 million was earned from sea trade, and USD 956.539 million from border trade, making a total of USD 3831.083 million.

The annual revenue from agricultural produce exports was USD 2372.561 million in 2011-2012, USD 2696.736 million in 2012-2013, USD 2661.011 million in 2013-2014, USD 2919.658 million in 2014-2015, USD 2615.774 million in 2015-2016, USD 2928.101 million in 2016-2017, USD 3087.123 million in 2017-2018, USD 1278.759 million in the 2018 Mini Budget, USD 3261.591 million in 2018-2019, USD 3725.698 million in 2019-2020, and USD 4624.126 million in 2020-2021.

Until the 2020-2021 fiscal year, foreign investment in agricultural produce was below 1% of the total foreign investment.

Myanmar exports agricultural produce, animal produce, fishery products, mineral products, forest products, finished industrial products (CMP), and other goods. Imports include investment goods, raw materials for worksites, personal goods, and CMP raw materials.

Myanmar has implemented strategies to increase exports, prioritizing the agricultural produce sector, basic foodstuffs sector, fabrics and garment sector, industrial and electrical goods sector, fishery products sector, forest produce sector, digital products and services sector, supply and transport services sector, quality and management sector, trade and information sector, and the innovation sector.
