Foreign visitors’ arrival increased at Techilek border gate

During April 2018 to 25th October, a 7 months period, more than 550,000 tourists entered Myanmar via the Techilek border, according to the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

Many tourists enter Myanmar from international routes such as airports but also via land borders as part of their South East Asia tour to enjoy Myanmar’s scenic beauty and rich traditional culture.

From April 2018 to 25th October, there were 22627 Thais that entered Myanmar.

Total of 276 travelers from assorted third world nations also entered via Techilek border gate with day trip or one night trip. In Lantaung day trip, there were 46 Thais, and 6 other foreigners, 347 visitors from various countries in Mongpyat-Kengtung trip, according to Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.

For the day trip, foreigners tend to visit Tarlot market, Bayint Naung statue, Maha Myat Muni pagoda, Wankaung market, Koemyoshin Nat temple, Shwedagon replica pagoda, downtown monastery, Two Dragons Sayadaw monastery, Kwanyin meidaw Chinese temple, and Kyauktan market in Techilek.

For a one night stay visit, travelers visit Buddha footprint in Mongpyat, Zaytangyi monastery, Buddha Garden in entrance of Kengtung, Maha Myat Muni Hokhon monastery in Kengtung, Mya Pagoda, Kyaingyin monastery, Wangin monastery, Suntaung temple, Kyat Seram temple, Yankone temple, Parlyun, Standing Buddha temple, Thittabin hill, Kabar Aye Sedi, model Yanlawa village, and 9 storey waterfall near Kettaung village. And for the longer, inner Myanmar visits, they go to Heho-Yangon-Mandalay-Myitkyina-Lashio.
