Battles occurred between the army and ethnic armed groups as the army didn’t inform of their operations advance in areas where ceasefire is imposed despite the opening of liaison offices, said Lt-Col Sai Mein, spokesperson of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS).

“Although liaison offices are opened in areas where ceasefire is enacted, the army didn’t inform their operations in advance,” said Sai Mein.

He said that the RCSS wants peace, unity and national reconciliation, which are desired by all people and they are trying to deal with the problems in peaceful ways by signing ceasefire agreements.

At the present, fighting is still erupted in some areas of Rakhine and Shan states and the fighting should stop. The war get people in trouble and the development of the economy is late behind due to the fighting, he said.
