A temporary shelter will be built for elderly people to escape heat as the temperature increases in Pyay, Bago Region, said member of Region Parliament Kyaw Zeya for Pyay Township Constituency.

The shelter will completely be built on April 24 or 25 at Baydari Park (viewpoint) by Ayeyawady River in Pyay.

"Well-off people will live in their homes equipped with air-conditioners. In the homes without air-conditioners, elderly people have to suffer from intense heat in the afternoon. We will go and fetch them. They will be served with lunch and cold drinks at the shelter. They will be sent back home when the sun is down. The viewpoint is surrounded by many trees and plants. It will be convenient for elders," said MP Kyaw Zeya.

According to data collected village-wise, elderly people will be picked up at about 8 am and provide them with lunch and cold drinks as well as healthcare.

"Currently, it is so hot due to lack of rain. The temperature will decrease if it rains. I think rain may come by the end of April. A low pressure area will form on about April 28 or 29. In the first week of May, a depression may come moving northeast. They many move to Bangladesh and Rakine. Meteorologists expect that rain will come due to that depression," said Aung Myint, head of Pyay Township Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The temperature in Pyay was 40.4 degree centigrade on April 23.
