Dy Speaker of Ayeyawady Region Parliament to resign

San Min Aung, Deputy Speaker of Ayeyawady Region Parliament has informed the Region Parliament Speaker about his resignation.

A person lodged a complaint that a budget of Ks158 million to Ayeyawady Region Parliament was allotted for the purchase of five vehicles in 2017-2018 fiscal year. There were amendments to some contracts.

On December 18, the ruling National League for Democracy NLD (headquarters) made an investigation into the case. On January 13, the NLD dismissed him from the party as he was found to be involved in the misconducts.  

Aung Kyaw Khaing, Ayeyawady Region Parliament Speaker said: “He told me he would submit his resignation letter on Monday. I think he will put his signature on the resignation letter. He told other MPs about his resignation. I heard he removed his materials. The parliamentary session will be called on January 31. I will inform the commission if he signs the letter.”

When asked by the Daily Eleven, Deputy Speaker San Min Aung replied that he would make an official deceleration at the regular session of parliament on January 31. He would solve the complaint filed at the Anti-Corruption Commission in the legal bound.
