Dead dolphin spotted in Irrawaddy dolphin protection area

A dead male dolphin was found in the reeds near Hsin Village in Patheingyi Township, Mandalay Region, in the Irrawaddy dolphin protected area that stretch from Mingun to Kyaukmyaung, according to the dolphin protection team.

The dead Irrawaddy dolphin is 6.6 feet in length. The dolphin covered in algae supposedly died about 10 days ago after suffering electric shock, the team reviewed. The dolphin carcass was sent to the motorboat of the dolphin protection team.

More than 20 Irrawaddy dolphins reportedly roam in the protection area.

The team called for cooperation local people in conserving the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins.
