Consecration, alms donation ceremonies for 11,111 monks held at Shwedagon Pagoda

Under the guidance of the Yangon Region Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee of multi-Buddhist sects, a consecration ceremony of the Shwedagon Pagoda by 11,111 monks and a rice offering ceremony were held at the upper terrace of the Shwedagon Pagoda and People’s Square this morning.

Firstly, the consecration ceremony of the Shwedagon Pagoda by 11,111 monks was held at the upper terrace of the Shwedagon Pagoda and 11,000 monks from Yangon Region stayed at the People’s Square.

Afterwards, wellwishers donated alms and provisions to the 111 senior monks on the platform of Shwedagon pagoda and other attendees also offered rice and offertories to 11,000 monks at the People’s Square.

The Yangon Region Government Committee organized the consecration ceremony of Shwedagon pagoda and alms donation ceremony for 11,111 monks. The donated offertories were worth over 3 billion Kyats.
