Explosion at administration office in Nankhe Ward, Mon State

An explosion occurred at the Administration Office in Nankhe ward, Thaton Township, Mon State, early yesterday morning, resulting in damage to the office building and nearby houses.

 According to witnesses, a loud explosive sound was followed by significant ground vibrations.

Local residents reported that the walls, roofs, and ceilings of the administration office sustained damage, and the windows of two nearby houses were destroyed. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Security forces promptly responded to the scene and conducted mine clearance activities. However, this incident highlights the frequent occurrence of mine blasts in Thaton and Bilin townships, Mon State. 

Recently, on May 23, the Ma Saw Bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine road in Taungkalay village, Bilin Township, was also targeted by a mine explosion. Similarly, the Kyoneeike Bridge on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway between Thaton Township and Bilin Township experienced another detonation on May 11.
