Authorities seize illegal goods and vehicles worth over 180 million kyats in Yangon, Bago, Mandalay and Shan in two days

Over 180 million kyat worth of illegal fuel business equipment, consumer goods and vehicles were seized in Yangon, Bago, Mandalay and Shan State in two days, according to the statement of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.

According to the release, a joint task force under the management of the Customs Department conducted an inspection on June 4, and found 2,500 two wheel tractor oil pumps, spare parts for Chinese-made tractors worth about 7.5 million kyats, which were found in a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port and eight products, including a CNC pneumatic forming press machine (used) worth about 22.659 million kyats made in China, which were found in a container at the Asia Wall terminal,  that was different from what was declared in the import declaration, totaling about 30.159 million kyats, and action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.

On June 4, a joint task force under the management of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Team conducted an inspection on a vehicle driving from Hpa-an to Yangon at the Ywarthargyi Dry Port and found 840 Chinese-made ceramic squatting pan toilets worth about 11.34 million kyats, which were not declared in the import declaration form, and a Nissan diesel truck carrying these items (estimated value at 45 million kyats), totaling 56.34 million kyats and action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.

On June 5, a joint task force under the management of the Shan State Anti-Illegal Trade Special Team conducted inspection and seized 21 25-kilogram bags of monosodium glutamate worth about 2.52 million kyats, which are non-customs goods and piled up somewhere beyond the Sinphyu Gate in Muse. Actions are being taken according to customs procedures.

On June 5, when the joint team conducted inspections under the management of Bago Region's Anti-Illegal Trade Special Team, they found 1,500 Chinese-made LED head lamps worth about 4.5 million kyats from a vehicle driving from Mudon to Yangon at the Nyang Kha Shae x-ray machine checkpoint and a Mitsubishi bus carrying these items (valued approximately 25 million kyats), totaling about 29.5 million kyats was seized and action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.

On June 5, the inspection was carried out by the joint team under the management of Mandalay Region's Anti-Illegal Trade Special Team and found 190 gallons of illegal diesel fuel worth about 2.0,8 million kyats on a vehicle and a light truck carrying the fuel (valued approximately 15 million kyats) at the joint inspection station of Yadanarpon Bridge (Mandalay), and action is being taken in accordance with the law on petroleum and petroleum products. They also seized 400 bicycles (used) made in Japan (valued estimated at 6 million kyats) and a Nissan Diesel truck carrying these items (valued estimated at 40 million kyats) that could not be presented, on a vehicle at the Myitnge Inspection Station and action is being taken in accordance with the customs procedures. A total of 63.0805 million kyats has been seized and action is being taken.

For this reason, on June 4 and 5, the total amount of seizures was worth about 181.5995 million kyats, according to the statement of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
