After the State of Emergency period, preparations will be made for holding election says Vice-Chairman of SAC

Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, said that after the period of State of Emergency, preparations will be made for holding election and in doing so, stability of the State is required and if there is no stability, election can’t be held.

He said these words when meeting with the families of officers and soldiers from the Loikaw and Pekhon stations, departmental heads and towns’ elders in Kayah State on February 4.

Vice-Senior General said in his address that due to the situations happened before and after 2020 general election, military seized power in accordance with the Section 417, 418 and 419 of Constitution (2008).

He said the State Administration Council will proceed as per the provisions of the State of Emergency. According to Section 417 of the 2008 Constitution, an election must be held after the set timeline, and preparations are underway to hold a free and fair multiparty democracy general election, he added.

In the State Administration Council, military and civil personnel were equally constituted. In the third wave of COVID-19, economic crisis and political challenge, they can overcome these obstacles with the cooperation of civil staff, security forces. After the period of state of emergency, election must be held. In doing so, stability of the state is required. He added that Chair of SAC is implementing 2022 as the year of peace.

During his Kayah State visit, Vice-Senior General Soe Win separately met with government officials, departmental heads, and leaders of religious organizations. He also provided garments donated by the Ministry of social welfare to IDPs from Paruso, Ngwe Taung new village, Hmon Pyar village and IDPs from Loikaw.
