Myanmar found 987 COVID-19 new confirmed cases on October 5 and 32 more people died according to the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) on the night of October 5.
A total of 8,285 samples are tested on October 4 and October 5, found 987 confirmed patients, it said.
A total of353 people are allowed to be discharged from the hospital bringing the total number of people free from COVID-19 now reached 5548. Up to 444 patients have died from the virus, it said.
Hospitals in Yangon Region are testing COVID-19 suspects using rapid anti-gen diagnostic test kits, and among the tests, those with loss of smell are included, announced the MOHS.
