The signing ceremony was held at the M-Gallery Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on May 28. The MoU was signed by Myanmar’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar, in the presence of Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe.

He noted that since 2017, Myanmar has received 140 projects worth over US$40.46 million. For 2026, Myanmar will implement eight projects covering agriculture, energy, environmental conservation, water resources management, MSME development, and cultural cooperation.
He added that the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation will continue working with China and other member countries to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainable and inclusive development in the region.
The Mekong–Lancang Cooperation, established in 2016, comprises six member countries—Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam—aimed at promoting regional sustainable development and cooperation.
