Heavy rains in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State, have caused the water level of the Thanlwin River to rise above the danger level of 750 centimeters. As of 2:30 p.m. on August 11, the river level had reached 835 centimeters, prompting the relocation of 390 flood-affected residents living near the riverbank and in low-lying areas to two temporary relief camps, according to the Ministry of Information.

Members of the district and township Disaster Management Committees, departmental officials, firefighters, Red Cross members, social organizations, and ward/village administrators are assisting in the timely relocation and accommodation of affected households under the supervision of the State Disaster Management Committee.

A total of 78 households, comprising 194 men and 196 women, or 390 people in total, are currently being accommodated at two temporary flood relief camps at the indoor sports hall and Le Thar Monastery in Hpa-an.
