A U.S. delegation that arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on September 15 departed Myanmar on the evening of September 16, according to Flight Radar24 records.
The delegation arrived in Nay Pyi Taw via Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport aboard a United States Air Force aircraft and left the following day, according to flight-tracking data.
The visit lasted approximately one day. No official information has yet been released regarding the members of the delegation, whom they met, or the issues discussed during the visit.
The aircraft used for the trip was reportedly a U.S. Air Force Beech C-12D Huron, registration number 83-0498.
The Beech C-12 Huron is a military aircraft based on the civilian Beechcraft Super King Air. The aircraft is widely used by the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy, including for transporting senior personnel and supporting diplomatic and official operations at U.S. embassies abroad.
Reports have suggested that the visit may have been related to discussions following the US-Myanmar Business Dialogue held in Singapore on September 3. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
The September 3 dialogue was attended by several Myanmar business people.
Separately, the Myanmar government announced on the evening of September 16 that U.S. citizen Adam Michael Castillo had been deported, citing violations of the rules and directives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar. The government said the decision was made with the aim of maintaining friendly relations between the two countries.
