3 of alleged military informers killed, monastery building they were hiding in torched in KhinU Township

Three of those hiding in Ywathit Village, KhyinU Township, Sagaing Region, as they were accused of being military informants were killed and a whole building of the monastery they were hiding in was torched, according to local sources.

Around 50 PDF members armed with guns and swords arrived in the monastery compound on the afternoon of November 25, killed some of those hiding and torched the monastery, the information of the team of the State Administration Council reported.

A monastery building and a store room were destroyed in the incineration and U Kalar (aka) U tin Myo Maung, aged 37, U Ohn Nyunt, aged 65 and U Mar, aged 70, were killed.

According to the press release issued by the SAC’s information team, another 17 people—form men and 13 women—in five households in the monastery compound were saved and taken by security forces to the town of YeU along KhinU-YeU Road. When they arrived at the junction of the Lotus Roundabout at the top off Magyitaw Village, they faced mine attacks but no property or no one was hurt. They arrived at the town safely at about 9.30pm.  

Apart from the latest killings, another five locals from KhinU Township were killed from November 23 to November 25 for being alleged military informants and members of Pyusawhtee group (alleged military supporters) local sources said.

A group called Jungle Cobra claimed responsibility on its Facebook page for killing those five people as they were military informants and got involved in Pyusawhtee group.

In KhinU Township, ward administrators, military informers and Pyusawhtee group members have been frequently killed, according to local sources.
