Thailand’s Ministry of Labour has announced a 15-day registration window for undocumented migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam to apply for the “New Pink Card,” allowing them to obtain temporary legal status. Applications will be accepted online from December 12 to 26, according to an official announcement.

U Moegyoe, Chairman of the Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs (JACBA), confirmed that the program applies only to undocumented workers from the three countries who are already inside Thailand. Cambodia is not included in the scheme, he noted.

Workers may submit applications themselves through the online system at www.eworkpermit.doe.go.th (http://www.eworkpermit.doe.go.th/), with support from their employers. The initiative aims to assist migrants working without legal documents and prevent further illegal border crossings.

U Moegyoe urged migrants not to be misled by brokers claiming they can facilitate entry into Thailand, emphasizing that the program is not intended for those attempting to cross the border illegally. “This measure is only for workers currently inside Thailand. Those who try to enter illegally risk action under Thai law,” he said.

The Thai Ministry of Labour has also encouraged employers and authorized recruitment agencies to help their workers complete the application process.
