Thailand has repatriated more than 90 Myanmar nationals who had served their sentences in Thai prisons, according to sources.
On May 13, Myanmar migrant workers released from Ranong, Thailand, were sent back to Kawthoung in Myanmar’s Tanintharyi Region.
A total of 92 returnees—66 men and 26 women—were transported on six boats under the supervision of Ranong-based labour attaché U Aung Soe Than.
Upon arrival, the returnees are being received by officials and subjected to COVID-19 screening, identity verification, blacklist checks, and assessments for human trafficking victim status or outstanding warrants before being sent back to their hometowns.
