The Myanmar Fire Services Department reported that 20 homes were swept away after a riverbank collapsed due to erosion in Nyaungdon Township.
The incident occurred around 1 AM on May 25 near Yan Kin San Ya (West Island) Village in Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyarwady Region.
Officials confirmed that 13 houses were lost when the Pan Hlaing River eroded the riverbank. Another 7 homes in Ward No. 4 and its surrounding area were also carried away by the water.
Firefighters from Nyaungdon Township Fire Station, along with auxiliary rescue teams, quickly responded to help evacuate residents from other homes at risk of collapsing into the river.
