According to announcements from township electricity offices, the power distribution schedule in Yangon Region’s Eastern District has been revised from a 4-hour on, 4-hour off system to a 4-hour on, 8-hour off system.

Starting March 24, townships in Yangon’s Eastern District have been following this new power distribution schedule.

“Since we have returned to the A, B, and C group divisions, the power supply will now follow a 4-hour on, 8-hour off system,” the Yankin Township Electricity Distribution Team stated on social media.

The Eastern District of Yangon Region includes Yankin, North Dagon, Thaketa, Dagon Seikkan, Dawbon, Thingangyun, Tamwe, North Okkalapa, Mingalar Taung Nyunt, South Dagon, East Dagon, South Okkalapa, Botahtaung, and Pazundaung townships.

“I noticed that the power no longer follows the previous 4-hour on, 4-hour off schedule starting today. The electricity is currently out,” said a resident of Thaketa Township.

Currently, Yangon Region’s Eastern and Western Districts are following a 4-hour rotating power supply system, while the remaining two districts are under a 4-hour on, 8-hour off schedule. If additional electricity becomes available, extra power will be supplied in the evening, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Energy’s statement in early March.
