A fire broke out in Mandalay after a candle fell on the floor on top of the cork boards from a high shelf in the building for the shrine, according to sources.

The fire broke out at the third floor of the 15-foot × 30-foot RC three-story building, located on 27th Street between 62nd and 63rd streets in Chanayethazan Township, Mandalay, which opened a sports equipment store on the ground floor of the building at 8:48 pm on March 21, according to the Myanmar Fire Services Department (MFSD).

The fire destroyed the third-floor ceilings and aluminum glass doors, floor tiles, and sports equipment.

A total of seven fire engines and three water bowsers were dispatched from Chanayethazan Township Fire Station, Pak Kone Area Reserve Fire Station, Kan Kawk Reserve Fire Station, Pyaygyi Myatman Reserve Fire Station, Seittaramahi Reserve Fire Station, Moragiwa Reserve Fire Station, and Aung Nan Yeik Thar East Reserve Fire Station to put out the fire, which was brought under control at 9:12 pm and extinguished at 9:14 pm.

A case was opened against the 60-year-old man in charge of the shop under Section 285 of the Penal Code by the No.3 Police Station.
