The World Hindi Day 2025 celebration took place on January 10 at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, located within the Embassy of India in Yangon.

The event was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp, led by Indian Ambassador Shri Abhay Thakur and other distinguished guests.

According to the Indian Embassy, the celebration aimed to highlight the global significance of the Hindi language, promote the learning of Hindi in Myanmar, and foster a stronger global connection through Hindi. It served as a robust platform to showcase collaborative efforts in strengthening the presence of the Hindi language in Myanmar.

In his speech, Ambassador Shri Abhay Thakur emphasized that Hindi is among the world’s prominent languages and that its global reach and interactions in the educational domain are steadily increasing, making it a source of pride for all.

The program included various competitions such as poetry recitation, speeches, general knowledge quizzes, and essay writing in Hindi, primarily engaging students and teachers with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by Hindi enthusiasts, writers, and personalities from cultural and educational sectors, adding prestige to the occasion.

Deputy Chief of Mission Shri Ashish Sharma participated actively, while representatives from organizations such as UP Bihar Parishad, Ramayana Prachar Prasar Samiti, Yangon, Myanmar Hindi Teachers' Association, Arya Samaj, and various schools managed by religious institutions in Myanmar also attended.

As a special highlight, a book titled "Hindi: Vishwa Bandutav Ki Bhasha" (Hindi: The Language of Global Brotherhood), authored and edited by SVCC Director Shri Ashish Khandhway, was introduced during the event. Ambassador Shri Abhay Thakur distributed educational materials to Hindi schools in Myanmar to promote Hindi education further.

The program concluded with cultural performances and the singing of the national anthem, marking the end of the successful event.
