In response to widespread flooding across Myanmar in September 2024, KBZ Bank has activated its extensive network of branches, employees, and local and international partners to provide effective relief to affected communities.
KBZ Bank has designated 100 branches as emergency response centers, each equipped with a fund of 1 billion MMK, to assist flood-hit areas.
Employees and local leaders are coordinating efforts to ensure timely support reaches those in need.
The relief operations are being executed in two phases: the first focused on immediate rescue efforts, followed by a second phase for recovery and rebuilding.
Starting on September 10, following heavy rains caused by Tropical Storm Yagi on September 9, KBZ Bank began distributing essential supplies to affected regions.
These include ready-to-eat meals, canned goods, clean drinking water, oral rehydration salts, medicines, clothing, sanitary items, and blankets.
The hardest-hit areas, such as Aungpan, Kalaw, Shwenyaung, Nyaungshwe, Inle, Tatkone, Yamethin, and Pyawbwe, are the primary focus.
In villages where cooking is challenging, KBZ has set up makeshift kitchens providing meals throughout the day.
In other affected areas, funds are being transferred via KBZPay to neighboring safe villages to facilitate meal preparation and distribution.
KBZ Bank staff across Myanmar are actively participating, contributing not only through the bank’s donations but also through personal donations of clothing, medicine, and money.
In preparation for potential flooding in other regions, including Bago and Ayeyawady, KBZ has contingency plans ready to provide timely assistance.
Drawing on experience from the 2015 nationwide floods, KBZ Bank remains committed to ensuring efficient and effective support during this natural disaster, helping those in need across the country.
