44 Schools Reopen in Chin State's Tonzang Township, Enrolling More Than 3,400 Students

A total of 44 schools have reopened in Tonzang Township, Chin State, with 3,446 basic education students currently attending classes, according to official information.

Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint, accompanied by members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee and departmental officials, visited schools in Tonzang on June 27, 2026, to inspect teaching activities. During the visit, the delegation also met with religious leaders, community elders, departmental officials, and members of the Tonzang Township Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee.

The Deputy Minister and his delegation visited the Basic Education High School in Tonzang, where they met with the headmaster and teaching staff. The headmaster reported that the school is operating with a total of 36 staff members, comprising one headmaster, 30 teachers, and five education personnel, while 261 students are currently enrolled. After receiving an update on the school's operations and current teaching conditions, the Deputy Minister coordinated with relevant officials to address the school's needs and presented gifts to the teachers.

The delegation also observed classroom teaching activities and encouraged local residents who were volunteering to clean and beautify the school compound. The Deputy Minister greeted the volunteers individually and provided them with financial assistance.

Later, the Deputy Minister met with religious leaders, community elders, departmental officials, and members of the Tonzang Township Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee. In response to issues raised during the meeting, he coordinated with relevant departments and committee members to facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. He stressed the importance of implementing reconstruction projects in a timely manner through coordinated cooperation and emphasized that regional peace and stability are essential for sustainable development. He also urged religious leaders, community elders, and departmental officials to continue working together to promote peace and development in the region.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister distributed BURMAR Cafe gift packages and toured Tonzang Township by vehicle to observe local conditions.
