Yangon General Hospital had 54 patients diagnosed with severe diarrhea as of August 13, while one elderly patient had died, according to the Yangon Region Government’s response regarding the diarrhea outbreak.
From August 9 to 10, a total of 28 diarrhea patients arrived at Yangon General Hospital. On August 11, another 70 new patients arrived, bringing the number of hospitalized patients to 98 as of that date. Eight patients were discharged, while one 92-year-old elderly patient died.
Another 84 new patients arrived on August 12, and as of August 13, a total of 54 patients had tested positive for severe diarrhea.
Under the leadership of the Yangon Region Health Care Management Committee, inspections of food and water are being conducted in the affected townships of Lanmadaw, Latha, Pabedan and Kyauktada in cooperation with the relevant municipal and health departments, as well as district and township General Administration Departments.
