Food, clothes and blankets are urgenlty needed for the locals displaced by intense fighting between the military and combined forces: TNLA and Mandalay PDF members near in Naung Pein village and Goteik viaduct in Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State, volunteers said.
“Not only basic consumer goods but also warm clothes, blankets and mosquito nets are urgently needed for the displaced civilians. They already have been affected by the weather and war,” said an official from Kantlint Letmyar Social Welfare Organization (Naung Pein).
Nearly 150 monks fleeing from Kyuakme to Naung Pein are now taking shelters in the relevant monasteries and then the volunteers are now helping the 546 civilians by making the temporary refugee camps in Aung Communication Center (Naung Pein), Shan Literature and Cultural School (Naung Pein) and Potpayone Monastery in Naung Pein.
Around 11 am of November 13, the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Mandalay PDF members came and told the civilians that they would be trapped in the battle. So, they were forced to leave their homes and fled to Naung Pein from Kyaukme Township. The fighting intensified near Goteik viaduct of Naungcho Township and Naung Pit village in Kyaukme District.
