About 200 healthcare workers have been infected by COVID-19 virus at Yangon General Hospital (YGH) and they don’t have enough healthcare workers to care for the COVID-19 patients, according to the Facebook page of Dr Nanda Win, who is in duty at the YGH.

“We remain steadfast but we are very tired now. If the situation is continued like this, we cannot deal with it. The hospitals with new beds will be like wayside public rest houses or guesthouses if there are no healthcare workers in them. The healthcare workers cannot be produced from the factory. If we work harder than normal schedules,  it is more likely that we will get infected,” he said.

At the present, it is reached a situation that almost all patients can have their own bed at the hospital. But if people don’t follow the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS), it will not be enough if 10,000 more beds are added to the YGH. People need to follow the guidelines set by the MOHS and not to get infection for themselves as well as elders and patients with chronic diseases at their homes, he said.

“Don’t wear a mask at the chin and don’t make social gatherings. Don’t go out to market and street if not needed. Let’s stay at home to have long life happiness. There will be donors for people who need work for their living. They will help them to prevent them from hunger. No work can be done without people. If people don’t follow health regulations, it will only hurt them,” he wrote.

The MOHS announced on October 25 that eligible voters living in “Stay at Home” townships can go to polling stations to give vote.

It said the MOHS announced all townships in Rakhine State, all townships in Yangon Region except Co Co Island Township, Mawlamyaing and Belin townships in Mon State, Maha Aungmyay, Chanaye Tharzan and Amarapura townships in Mandalay Region, Kawa, Bago and Thanutpin townships in Bago Region, Pathein, Pyapon and Maubin townships in Ayeyawady Region and Hpakant and Moenyin townships in Kachin State are included in “Stay at Home” orders issued on August 26, September 20, September 25 and October 19.

However the eligible voters who lived in “Stay at Home” townships can go to assigned places to give advanced vote and polling stations to give vote on election day, it said.
