The owner of Khemar Yahta gold shop was shot dead and robbed in Kengtung Township, eastern Shan State, on the afternoon of May 13, according to local residents.

At around 1:30 p.m., U Sai Yi Tit, owner of a gold shop in Ward 3, was returning home with two other people in a vehicle along Keng Ngam Wat Inn Road when the incident occurred.

According to locals, as the vehicle stopped in front of his house, three armed men arrived in another vehicle, shot U Sai Yi Tit twice, seized gold and the vehicle, and fled the scene.

Local reports said the amount of gold taken may have been between three and 30 visses, although this information could not be independently verified by Eleven Media.

U Sai Yi Tit was taken to Kengtung Hospital by members of the Nalone Hla Paing Shin Myar social assistance association, but later died from his injuries.
