As a Myanmar migrant worker coming back from Thailand via Myawaddy-Maesot No-2 Friendship Bridge tested COVID-19 positive, those working at the Myawaddy Border Control Facility will have to go quarantine.
An investigation is being conducted into those that collected data on May 25 and they will have to go through a 21 day quarantine according to assistant director Min Lwin of the District Planning Department on collecting data on Myanmar migrant workers.
Case-233 is a 26 years old male from Seikpyan Gyi ward, Pyuntasar, Nyaung Lay Bin. He came back from Thailand on May 25 via the Myawaddy border and stayed 4 days under quarantine in Bayargyi in Bago. He then arrived at Nyaung Lay Bin on May 29 and on May 30, went through quarantine at Thitagu Sakkudana hospital in Nyaung Lay Bin, Bago Region.
Case-233 wasunder quarantine at Thitagu Sakkudana hospital in Pyuntasar, Nyaung Lay Bin Township, Bago Region and after he was tested positive, moved to Bago Hospital on June 3.
“We are investigating the close contact of case-233 such as policemen who make a list of those coming back from Thailand. Besides, he left Myawwaddy via passenger bus so the driver of the bus, and bus-conductor will be among the list to go quarantine,” said Teza Aung, Myawaddy District Administrator.
From May 23 to June 2, about 13430 migrant workers came back via friendship bridge no-2.
