Yangon-Kokogyun package tour will be run for second time on March 4, said Hla Aung, associate secretary of Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) on February 19.
“We are trying to run the package tour on March 4 and we will have the list of passengers and cargos at the end of this month,” he said.
Kokogyun is an important place for Myanmar and the plan is initiated by Yangon Region government to deal with the transportation for people in Kokogyun, to send consumer products to Kokogyun quickly and to provide assistance to the area development.
It took about 40 hours to Kokogyun and is depended on the weather. It will cost Ks20 million for the round trip to Yangon-Kokogyun package tour and the YRTA provided the rental charges.
“We signed the contract for the whole season and we have to be careful with weather conditions. We have the instruction of the regional government to continue the package tour,” he said.
Although the YRTA didn’t charge the passengers, it is waiting the instruction of the regional government whether to collect charges on cargos or not.
The ship can carry over 60 passengers and over 300 tons of cargos and it can provide meals and services for life insurance for its passengers.
The ceremony to mark the start run of Yangon-Kokogyun package tour was held at Thaketa jetty owned by Myanma Five Star Shipping Services located in Thaketa Township on January 21.
Previously, the visit to Kokogyun was made by navy vessels and military aircrafts.
